[are you bringing me food in your bed, that's so sweet. is the sun even still up, is it after dark, what. she's scrolling back through the photos, anyway, taking more time to really study the contents of them.]

[ We're gonna say she has a home keurig so she can pop up a quick two cups. Also, she's lazy. Why would she wait on a coffee pot. Unless Isa has more to say before breakfast (which is really dinner, because yes, it's late, it's probably dark) then all she'll hear is cooking noises. At least it smells good. There's definitely butter, and melting cheese, and meat. Coffee, and some kind of oily, herbal scent. ]

[Lea's the best and i hope she knows that. and no, Isa doesn't have anything else to say right now. in fact, she'll be dozing a little whenever Lea finally appears with food. she's left the phone on a photo of Serein wiggling blissfully on her back in about six inches of snow; Riku's leg is also in the photo, and the toe of one of Lea's shoes.]

[ It'll be about ten minutes before Lea surfaces from the kitchen. She whips around the corner with two cups of steaming coffee (one presumably made however the fuck Isa likes it, the other how she likes it, which is more cream than coffee), pauses to internally "aww" at he picturesque image of dozing soft Isa, and then sneaks over to set the cups down on the nightstand. One is probably on a book, because Lea's like that. She's trying not to disturb Isa, and will retreat to the kitchen too fast to notice if she's successful.

When she returns it's with two plates, because we fancy now. Each plate has a grilled cheese made with texas toast and two different kinds of cheese (cut in slanted halves), sausages, eggs, and a handful of blistered cherry tomatoes. ]

[Isa takes hers about two shades off from black, and with a decent amount of sugar in it. the smell of the nearby coffee and the miniscuele noise of the mugs being set down rouse her, as Lea's retreating, and she'll be reaching for her mug when Lea comes back with food.]

If I'd known you were making a whole meal I'd have offered to help. This is awfully fancy, for you.

What, I can't impress you with my new culinary skills?

[ She's been that bored, apparently. Honestly, only one of these things required any more effort than "drop it into a pan and make sure it doesn't burn". Lea has decent skill burning things, so it stands to reason that she can prevent burning. ]

I'm impressed, at that and that you remembered how I take my coffee.

[actually she's impressed and delighted, and this is all filling her with warm fuzzies. she's in Lea's bed after a good nap and Lea prepared food for her and brought it to her and and and. lesser humans would be crying, but not Isa. instead she just looks supremely happy and kind of affectionate.]

It's my genius memory. You're welcome.

[ She looks really happy to see Isa looking so content, but that's going to make her emotional and dumb again, so enough embarrassment leaks in that she bends down to set one of the plates in Isa's lap. ]

You look comfortable, so I'll let it slide, just try not to get crumbs in my sheets.

Who, me? You're the one who eats food in bed and then complains when there are chip bits stabbing you later.

[Isa has impeccable table manners unless cake is involved, and never gets food on herself or anything else. also she's sensing a full meltdown is in Lea's near future. but until then she's gonna eat this good food and enjoy it. is Lea joining her with this bed food?]

Hey, I stopped doing that.

[ Bringing up my dark and ignorant past, I see. Lea's setting her plate on the ground beside the bed, then rifling around in the shelf inside the nightstand for a hairclip so she can sort of... tangle part of her hair back, enough that it's at least out of her face for eating. It looks like a disaster. Kinda? Anyway, now that she's settled and sitting on the floor with her hair back, she can eat. Lea's also starving after that nap -> emotional drain -> nap cycle, hence all the food. ]

[good thing Isa hasn't spotted the bag of chips you mentioned earlier. and it's also telling that Lea's sitting on the floor to eat, but Isa kindly won't remark on that. probably time for them both to focus on eating and not talking for a few minutes. the sandwich is getting yum noises from her though.]

[ She's careful, so it doesn't count. It's not like she's eating cinnamon toast or something!! Also excuse me, what's so telling about it, huh. She's glad Isa seems to be enjoying her low level cooking, at least. ]

So do I pass?

[the only thing that would be more telling is if Lea ate in the kitchen. or over the sink, like you do with mangos and watermelon.]

It's really good, and I'm still impressed.

[ You mean you don't put newspaper down on the table when you eat watermelon? ]

Thanks. I figured if I needed a big meal like this, you would too.

[ Muscle mass and all that. The Heart thing? Apparent funtimes on the beach? All of them combined? Whatev. With a big mouthful of sausage: ]

So whaddaya wanna do after we eat?

[no? i eat it over the sink so it doesn't make a mess that i then have to clean up.

Isa considers this question for a minute while she finishes her tomatoes.]

Dunno. It's after dark, so it's probably not the best time for you to take me on a tour of this place.

Doesn't matter too much with the weird rooms this place has, but I guess you're right.

[ Couldn't walk around outside and see a whole lot. It certainly wouldn't work for showing someone their way around. So. What? They sit inside and talk? She's anxious to find something to keep herself busy, once the food is gone. She might be trying to prolong it by taking a long sip of coffee. ]

[if she knew Lea was feeling that way, she'd probably confront her about it, because yeah, this is all weird, but they've had weird before. as it is, she's detecting a little bit of that anxiety. Lea can do a lot of things, but completely hiding what she's feeling isn't one of them. Isa's not sure what to do about it either, though.]

Tell me more about this place, then. You mentioned spells?

[ God, please. She's anxious over a variety of things, of various degrees of seriousness, and should probably talk about it but also recognizes how weird the situation is and just... she hasn't had the buildup of post-KH3 Lea, or the time to cope. How do thinking and feeling. As she stabs another sausage with her fork: ]

Right. Well, sometimes magic spells just happen. They can affect everybody, or only half, or only one person. This place feels like it's alive sometimes, and random things will just happen to people. Think like... everyone grows cat ears, or you're stuck under mistletoe thanks to magical barriers. Around Halloween the place gives everyone costumes or transforms them, somehow.

[ She leans back against the bed and looks at Isa seriously. This is a good theory. ]

I think it's gotta have something to do with the worlds, because doesn't that sound like Halloween Town to you?

[Isa frowns, mulling this over while she chews a bite of grilled cheese. she's trying to remember details from mission reports, but so much has happened since then.]

Maybe... but it sounds more like the clothes Sora had, that changed her physically in the different worlds. Nothing ever happened to us when we went to the worlds, unless it was left out of reports for some reason.

Yeah, nothing happened to me before this place. But if I go there now everything changes. You should see it.

[ She shrugs, both hands up in the air. ]

Maybe it's because we were Nobodies.

That makes as much sense as anything else, I suppose. What sort of changes?

[now i'm wondering if the clothes Lea and Kairi got from Yen Sid are magic the way Sora's are. but anyway, HT would absolutely just turn Isa into an actual werewolf after all this, probably. too bad they aren't allowed to go there until we get back to that other thread that's there right now.

whoops, Isa's just about through eating, she's using the last bite of grilled cheese to mop up sausage grease and tomato remains.]

[ Shhh we'll get there. It's fine. Also they probably are magic, why the hell else would they take so long. ]

[ She points to herself, the remaining half of grilled cheese hanging from her mouth. ]

[so classy, Lea. time for Isa to sip her coffee, now that her plate is clean and set off to one side (though still on the bed).]

[ She makes a face that is going for nonchalant, but probably only makes Isa look more curious. The remaining sandwich gets devoured in two bites, finishing off her plate, and then she reaches for her own coffee. ]

Both. It's a demon, sort of. I tried to take a picture and my phone exploded.

Hmm.

[Isa has lots of variations on "hmm," and Lea may or may not remember some of the subtleties of them at this point. this one was usually a precursor to something idiotic (but also really fun in a scary way) like trying to sneak into the castle to try and save a guy who didn't even know his own name.]
